I'm reading yet another YA novel where the heroine is sexually attacked and does not report it to the police. This was a particularly brutal scene and she is more concerned with making herself look presentable than making sure the guy is locked up. What message is this and other authors, who use this plot device, trying to send to young women? That violence against women isn't important? Fuck that and fuck them.
