Nick was wild and hot no doubt about that. But he was also careful and caring and strong and smart and… well. Sweet. She was starting to develop strong feelings for him. She knew it was stupid and she knew it was all happening too fast and she knew she’d probably end up getting hurt in the end. But there it was: she liked him. A lot.

The realization of what would have happened to her if Nick hadn’t been there overwhelmed her, and she let herself really feel the shock and anger of it for the first time.
