Dr Roth burst from the opening. “There’s been a catastrophe. They’ve taken Abby.”
“How can we go after them? Can we take the van?”
Dr Roth spoke uncomfortably. “Yeah, about that. I kind of wrecked it.” Mrs Baker’s mouth went horrified.
“There is no way to follow them? We have no transport?”
“How badly is the van wrecked?” Mr Baker asked.
“It won’t start. I have no clue what it would take to fix the engine.”
