Gosh, it's probably been >a decade since I've read one of the Golden Mountain Chronicles books, but I dimly remember some of the threads (a reference here to 'Grandpa Joe who was a miner in Wyoming' is probably my favorite protag, from The Traitor about the Rock Springs massacre).
