I’m having trouble getting over the fact that Gaetan has 3 BEDSLAVES! Also, he wants a legacy to leave his children when he has some, but he ALREADY HAS KIDS WITH HIS BEDSLAVES! Aside from this, I really like the book. It’s interesting and easy to read. I don’t know if I should just chalk this up to “this is just how things were back then and the author is staying true to history” or if I want to throw in the towel.
