I'd like to know what you all think about authors 'liking' a review of their own book? I've never done this because it seemed very self-obsessed and 'look at me, aren't I great?' But when other authors have 'liked' a review I've put up about a book of theirs, I've felt valued by them, and have felt that the work I've put into doing the review has been recognised.

Speaking for myself, I 'like' well written reviews, whether they're of my own books or anyone else's. I particularly appreciate reviews that are witty or very cleverly written.

Yeah, I'm beginning to think I'm too worried about thinking people will imagine I'm 'liking' it to send it to my feed to promote myself! It's a good way of showing that a reviewer's time and energy is appreciated... Sometimes I myself write huge philosophical essays in response to some books! It's quite a labour of love. I tend to differentiate between Amazon and here - a short pithy one for busy buyers on Amazon, but the ones here are aimed at my friends and followers and are a personal response - I don't know what the author thinks about such different reviews appearing! I don't put criticisms on Amazon, just something positive - but I may have to put a heads up to my GR friends about certain issues in a book - I'll always be polite though.Oh yes, and I've made lots of new friends by 'liking' a controversial review of certain books - if it's one of those issues where the howls of protest are in the minority and you can't understand why society is allowing something to go unchallenged then it's a good way of finding like minded souls.
Ps. I've just gone to look at you... Your author page I mean! Love the bio... What is a cubicle rat?
