Ch.12 - The Bounds of the Canon. The church accepted books that were "apostolic". In some cases that just meant that they confirmed the church's existing beliefs, which is somewhat circular logic. But the 2nd century gnostic stuff is clearly written in a very different interpretive framework from the (probably) 1st century stuff.

Ch.11 - Development of a Second Testament. Mainly against the challenge of heresies. But many books already established by end of second century. The church did not ditch books promoted by the heretics, but put them in context.

Ch.10 - Development of a Canon of Jewish Scriptures. There is no evidence of a specific council to determine the Hebrew canon. There is some evidence of occasions when certain scriptures were added. And speculation about which books Jesus and the Apostles would have considered canonical.
