This somewhat novelized version of history gets confusing when it switches from more current stories of Mr. Man's travels but Saigo's saga is fascinating.

A more novel approach than the last factual account of the Samurai I've read.
Both have their place on my shelf but I find the saga of Saigo Takamori more entertaining with more focused details than the overview found in Ben Hubbard's book.
Mr. Hubbard did cover far more characters and combat stories without the depth afforded the protagonist in Mr. Man's book.
