The Girl Without a Face by Marie Lu ★★★★★
I love anything Marie Lu writes, and this was no exception - a perfect blend of disturbing backstory, unreliable narration and psychological thrill
Plus, creepy girls in closets get me every time

M by Stefan Bachmann ★★★½
Good use of sensory imagery, but I still felt detached to the story - it intrigued me, but didn't feel scary enough
The mystery element was there, albeit a little dull - however, I did like the ending, and I found myself flipping back to see if the children's rhymes had left any clues earlier

Sleepless by Jay Kristoff ★★★★½
I was immediately drawn to Jay Kristoff's writing style, and while overly abbreviated texting is usually one of my biggest pet peeves, it actually established the mood + character dynamic really well
The instability of the narrator was creepy as shit, but I liked how tension was built up through foreshadowing - I was basically holding my breath by the end

Fat Girl With a Knife by Jonathan Maberry ★★★
Umm... O.O
This one had a really quirky vibe, and while it wasn't exactly scary, it was pretty entertaining, and I liked all the blood and stabbing lol

I read half of this anthology back in 2015 (and basically forgot everything), but I'm just going to rate the stories from this point onward
The Flicker, The Fingers, The Beat, The Sigh by April Genevieve Tucholke ★★★½
This felt like your classic horror story - staying pretty close to its roots - but still managed to be creepy in a lingering sort of way, especially with the truncated writing style
