The first story in this collection of three was fantastic. “Offshore” won the Booker Prizein 1979 and deservedly so.
It’s short (132 pages - hence the update) and packs a lot into itself. It’s a story where the economy of words hides a great deal of meaning and tricks you into thinking you’ve read a much longer novel.
