Imagine this. You are a grad student at Columbia in 1938. One of your roommates is destined to live on the Greek island of Patmos writing mystical poetry like John of Revelations. Another is a Hindu monk named Bramachari who recommends that your read St Augustine. So is it only logical that you become a Trappist monk ? This a beautifully written autobiography. I recommend it

My paper back copy has very small print. I put book aside until after my cataract surgery was finished. Now back to slowly wading through it.
