D4 I believe the author didn't develop the characters well as of yet. The protagonist, Greta, appears to have little to no flaws, so there isn't room for her to develop. She also seems to be very flat in personality. As demonstrated by her dialogue and 'normal' responses to a tragic event, Greta has a typical "Mary Sue" archetype where she aways does the right thing. Flat characters distract from the fun of the book.
