Ugh, it's getting worse. *SPOILERS*
Diana comes from a working class family, and Phillip is from old money. This is such an overused trope. During a weekend at his uncle's estate, a death of a friend is mentioned, and Diana wants to ask what I consider to be terribly nosy questions. (How did they die, what did they look like in their coffin?) She calls them "interesting and necessary questions."

I understand asking how they died, but here are the rest of the questions she was wanting to ask: "How had the deceased acted in her last days? Had she much pain, preferably a dramatic sort of pain? What sort of spectacle had been made by her relatives at the funeral?"
I mean seriously, get some damn decorum lady. You don't ask those kinds of questions.

I am really struggling with this book. As someone who has been cheated on several times, I can't look past what Diana is doing to Phillip. And what makes it worse is that Phillip is a genuinely decent and good man.
And really, what is up with Cynthia pushing this? Yeah, Harry seems like an ok guy, but he was just recently divorced, and probably has a ton of emotional baggage to work out.

I'm trying to figure out if I like the protagonist or not. She acknowledges that her shop is 3 months from going out of business, but gets pissy with her sister when she suggests ideas that could possibly keep her from going out of business. Also, the guilt about having cheated on her boyfriend after the fact, but not having stopped herself when it was happening.
I guess I don't understand Catholic guilt.
