Well, I am done reading this one, for now. I finished the first story, and while it did have its moments (especially the first ten pages), overall I just wasn't into it a whole lot. The first story is the longest of the bunch, but also, unfortunately, supposedly the best one. I will try another here in the near future. Perhaps.

I am reading this and I am wondering, "who are these people? Who writes from this point of view?" I chalk it up to the uniqueness of the author and the time period and its interests. Particularly anything related with theology. I might have been able to follow it at one time. But not now. Now, it only serves to hurt my brain. Still, I have read numerous books from centuries past that didn't have that effect on me.

It's weird: the style goes down easily enough until the characters start talking with each other. Then begins this sort of convoluted speech that people associate with "old English" that totally throws me off an otherwise really smooth experience. Still, I dig this.
