In Chapter on Humility: 4 means for acquiring: 1) fruit of Light of God on Soul--we are utterly dependent on Him for this virtue; 2) Prayer--nevertheless we still must ask for His Divine favor; 3) No less important to receive His favors well; 4) Another response, less agreeable, but to be accepted w/same gratitude, HUMILIATION.

Do you know when people really become spiritual? It is when they become slaves of God and are branded with His sign, which is the sign of the Cross, in token that they have given Him their freedom. Then He can sell them as slaves to the whole world, as He Himself was sold. ~~This book reminds me so much of The Fire Within, a synthesis of Carmelite spirituality
