My reading plan for 2018 was that I had to read x number of books I already owned, y number of books from the 1001 Books You Must Read list, and z number of books from a specific other shelf, but the books could (no, WOULD) be chosen serendipitously at the time I needed a book. It's only January 8, and I've gone crazy about 3 times already not being able to plan EXACTLY which books I plan to read for the year!

Haha, I'm so the opposite! If I plan too much, I immediately chafe at the plans I've made. I need the wiggle room to follow my whims.

I've tried to go back to the read-by-whim way of life, but after a few months -- if even that long -- end up making a plan, just to calm my brain!
And I'll also admit that when I make a plan, I usually don't stick to it. "I'm going to read *these* books" turns into "Oh, that one, too. And that one. I'm just going to skip this one for now. Nah, I don't want to read that one." ... So basically, I make a plan and break it, but if I don't make a plan, I feel nutty. The best laid plans...
