Something had gone wrong, and she was believed to be gone forever. Tadashi was just trying to get her back. Meanwhile Hiro and his friends are trying to stop him from destroying the city. Hiro decides to go inside the portal and try to get Abigail and Tadashi out, but they only find Abigail. The portal starts closing, so Baymax ends up getting stuck there to get the rest out. Abigail is alive though.

After this, Hiro is pretty upset but realizes he has new friends and that he should try and do things to make Tadashi and Baymax proud. When he comes back he tries to mend his relationship with Aunt Cass, and gives her a mini version of Baymax. He also starts inventing things to help people, like giving his professor an invention that grows hair. In the end he finds Baymax and Tadashi's old hat in his room.

While the masked man is busy trying to destroy the city with Hiro's microbots, they learn that it's actually Dr. Callaghan, the one who tried recruiting Hiro at the showcase. It was an accident that Tadashi died in the first place. Dr. Callaghan was always working on these portals, and after his wife died he was determined to perfect them. He thought he'd done so, so he tested it out on his daughter Abigail. -- cont
