Elio is so incredibly back and forth, it's making it hard for me to establish any kind of feeling towards him getting with Oliver. I'm guessing Elio is supposed to sincerely like Oliver for more than just sex, but that's so difficult to believe when Elio keeps being like "I'm indifferent to him now." Like??? Is that relatable for people? Does that usually happen???

The story is so smothered by the main character's unyielding thought processes, I keep having to stop every two or three pages just to come up for air. I almost wish this hadn't been in first person so this story can take a second away from this guy to breathe.
