It has all the elements of a gothic novel;
*creepy manor house set in rural England - check
*moody & mean male character that has questionable relations with sister - check
*suspected ghost that may or may not just be the narrators own mental illness - check
*deeply disturbed characters - check
However, the author does not have the talent for language that the gothic novelists possessed - it's flat & lifeless.
