I'm reading this book in dutch (my most recent language project) & my friend is reading it in German at the same time. And the first damn thing we realise is: the original story is located in the Netherlands. A nice little country, beautiful sceneries, lots of room for creepy small towns. And the translation? In the US. The fucking USA. WTF. You all know I loathe americanisation anyway, but books now, too? Messed up.
