This book is very well-written and provides a fascinating history of the development of religions, and how the structures of the pantheons have followed the lived experience of the people doing the worshipping (e.g., when centralized rule and leaders became the norm, the pantheons would also gain a pre-eminent God like Zeus, which they did not have before that). Highly recommended if you are interested in history.
