My book is written like a chronological story. As the reader works their way through the book, we learn what happens to the main character in the order that it happens. Every now and then, however, there will be a flashback led by the main character’s memory or previous knowledge. This is used as a way for the author to inform the reader about evens that happened outside of the order of the story.

One significant event, along with many others, is before Katniss and Peeta’s victory tour, when president snow threatens Katniss and tells her that she is being watched. I think that this was forshadowing for a rebellion because President snow specifically said that he is watching her to prevent any rebellions from happening. Why would the author imclude this threat if nothing happened?

The audience of Catching Fire seems to be directed to young adults/teens. The reading level doesn’t seem very high, something typical for a teen level book. It also shouldn’t be directed towards younger kids because of the graphic details envolved in the description of the hunger games. The people that this book seems to be directed to is someone who likes plot twists and adventures.

If I could give Katniss advice, I would tell her to become close the people of the capital and get them to like her. This is because there are rumors of a rebellion and she doesn’t know what the consequences will be if the capital blames her and Peeta. If the Capital likes her, they would be less likely to blame her for the rebellion of the districts. People will also get suspicious if her and Peeta aren’t talking.

This book is written in 1st person. I know this because whenever Katniss interacts with a character, she only knows what they are saying and not what they are thinking. Also, the reader never follows the thought of the other character after Katniss is done interacting with them. This is just like real life, once I am done talking to someone, I don’t know what they are doing after we’re done talking.

In the first chapter, Katniss is hunting in the wilderness to provide food for her friend Dale’s family. The wilderness scene represents a safe place, where she isn’t being watched and no rules are applied. Katniss was dreading going home after hunting, as she knows that camera crews are waiting there for her. She finds peace in the woods, because that is the only place where she can live without restrictions.
