I think I agree with people who have suggested that you just keep reading. No, you aren't going to get everything, but if you try to over-analyze everything, you'll stop enjoying it very quickly.

Actually, very poignant. It seems that is how many people would interact. It's as though they are trying to be respectful and pious, but really, they are just catching up as old friends.
