The travel writer and his family go to Finland (Lapland actually) at Christmas time. Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus, but you'd best keep your distance; he drinks. Well, at least there's a nearby McDonald's.

A holiday on a ranch is a trial for someone, who, as a kid, couldn't even handle going to summer camp. Many Buddha'd Bangkok offers exotic delights.

A trip to exotic Galapagos is followed by another to the Blue Mountains in Jamaica, where we learn about coffee, drugs, and the sweet, sweet taste of revenge.

In the first chapter, the narrator gives us his story. An average Jewish kid tries sex, drugs and rock and rock but can't get no satisfaction.

You're not the only one, Ali. It's even better when you notice he's also reading books on Christianity. Without knowing what this book is about, the contrast is amusing.

Believe it or not, guys, but this book is not primarily about sex. It's about a morally lax travel writer who visits a lot of exotic places only to find out they are not picture perfect after all. So he writes articles based on things other than his own experiences. He visits Bangkok (wipe those filthy smirks off your faces this instant, boys) but does not partake of the perversions offered therein because he's too busy looking for drugs. In fact, he does a phenomenal amount of drugs--to the point where the reader is surprised that the narrator can write coherently and hasn't been packed off to the Betty Ford Center--but there is surprisingly little sex. And the whole thing is a satire of travel literature, so you can't take anything--including the salacious cover illustration--at face value.
