The last 60% of this book was blessedly less make-the-readers-heart-crushed-pulp-and-also-maybe-a-stomach-ulcer. I’m rounding my rating of 3.5 stars up because there were parts of this story that reminded me of Alexis Hall’s writing, which is pretty damn impressive. The ending was a bit abrupt but still worked. I also would have liked some closure of Matt on his career but I’ll take the HEA with Aaron any day.

“Not quite a rape” ugh ugh ugh okay TW for any future re-reads or recommendations: I consider ignoring “no” and threatening someone with a knife while you get off on them rape, with or without penetration. Ignoring revoked consent is rape in my book, regardless what body parts go where

Wow. So. This book is not going the way I thought it would so far. Recklessness as a way of expressing grief is one thing (and more relatable for me when it’s grief caused by death, not cheating) but this is veering so heavily into self-destruction I’m contemplating bailing. This is gorgeously written but... man.
