It confuses me when the hero won’t sleep with the heroine because he wants more. This has happened when the hero is a relationship guy and when he is a ONS guy. I guess I understand it a little with the ONS guy because he is trying to prove to himself he wants more than sex. I don’t get it with the relationship guy- in most cases he didn’t make prior girlfriends wait so why the h?

There might be a logical reason. All I interpret it as using sex as manipulation. They are getting the h to agree for more than she’s ready for by withholding sex. It’s emotional blackmail in a sense.
I am reading After All by Erin Nicholas. The h has been after the H a few years and he won’t sleep with her because he wants more. He did “slip up” once, but hasn’t slept with her again. Why can’t he just do things with her the way he did with other girlfriends? I’m sure he slept with them before wanting more. And he mentioned sex is one of his favorite things- which just makes me think of him and OW because it isn’t his fave from sleeping with the h. Kiki- I think it is a form of blackmail!
You know what would make me happy on this glorious 7 degree day? If there was a way we could reach into a book and kick these manbabies hard on their asses!

This trope makes not much sense to me in the most books, maybe it's like an attempt to make H look better/honourable? Sometimes it works, but often they make MCs sleep together 2 pages further and I often ask myself what was it for? There are books I think and analyse, and there are books I scroll and roll my eyes. Are you speaking about a particular story?
