I'm finding this book really interesting, but the author's opinions of old practices really do shine through. On this page: describing a practice as "hocus-pocus". Really? Really? I mean, I'm a huge cynic about this stuff, I'm sure the practice had no bearing on the cow's health, but can you treat the people you are writing about with some respect?
