I am grounding myself like a teenager caught smoking. "Why?" you say. For the ubiquitous and otherwise unacceptable use of the words/phrases 'really' and 'kind of' and other qualifiers in recent reviews. Apparently I kind of have commitment problems. No absolutes!
Also I kind of, sort of, really have the attention span of a gnat with ADD on speed this week. Either that or nothing's holding my attention *pouts*.

I find myself doing that a lot more now as well, so you're not alone. That you're finding a productive way to deal with it is admirable...what limits have you set? I never stick to anything, so I'm not sure it would work for me.

I'm allowed to use it ONCE because they are good qualifiers with very few substitutes. That said, the exercise is more about saying what I really think without softening it, or finding a better way to express what I'm thinking without being too blunt when it's not necessary.Instead of saying, "It was kind of off-putting" (as in, 'not completely' so I don't want to say "it was off-putting") reword: "It wasn't a complete turnoff, but" or "it didn't put me off entirely, but..." or "such and such was great for the most part but there were moments when [...] was slightly off-putting"
less conversational, but also less wishy-washy.
Punishment: read a #cockygate book. ugh. it had to be bad to be a deterrent. #byefaleena makes my proverbial brass balls shrivel up.
obviously the idea is to be more aware and not HAVE to punish myself cuz the book gods know, I want nothing to do with her shit, especially if it could be construed as supporting her shit. AND it's poorly written M/F ... gah!
