Lots of deplorable, ugly treatment by some of the female characters. Yes, for the most part, this behavior propels the story but wish it wasn't so prevalent. These are not teenagers, they are adults, some are even the mothers who do this in a misguided effort to protect their child.

All the characters, even with the included family tree, can be difficult to keep track of. I still don't feel I'm totally immersed in this world but I'm wading in deeper.

Heard a lot about this series. It is something I would normally reach for so let's see how this goes.
