What an interesting beast this is. If you want a healthy dose of 19th century patriarchy and chauvinism, and sweetly trickling romanticism, this is just right. However, that aside, as a product of its time, it's pretty engrossing. Can't stand the main male character though. Called honorable and kind in this book, I only perceive him as a weak, deluded idiot. How the times have changed.
