Then I read this passage from George Orwell, 1984 that explained why members of the Party were allowed to get married only when the Party had proof that there was absolutely no sexual attraction between the couple involved;

in the two years since I left Egypt, things haven't gotten better. Thousand of people have been incarcerated for the most trivial reasons. Hundreds have been tortured on daily basis in police stations, others have been killed!

And that was the core of the problem, the army was indeed much more sacred than the religion, and was not allowed to be slandered in any way!
