I'm really enjoying this so far, but there're some problems:
1. The whole Lord Ruler business is a giant lesson about worshipping false idols. I don't want a 10 Commandments lesson.
2. Nobody simply drinks. Everybody "downs" their beverages. Find a few more synonyms, Sanderson.
3. "How had Elend been able to evoke her true self so quickly and thoroughly?" Oh please. I'm not here for a boy-saves-girl trope.

That's one of the most forgettable fantasy series I ever read. I remember enjoying it at the time. I have no memory of anything that happened except that the superpowers were kind of silly (but still fun) and main character is SOOOO CONFLICTED because...she says she's conflicted! Along with the telling instead of showing thing, Sanderson needing a thesaurus is an ongoing problem.
