This is an absolutely fabulous book, split into two books, 1 and 2, depressing-brilliance in fact but I've just become so absorbed in the life of Isak who literally goes into the wilderness and finds land to live and work on - it doesn't occur to him that he needs to purchase the land - then he needs a woman, Inger turns up with a hairlip, children follow... I'm just coming to the end of book 1. What a thought ...,
