Kindle Unlimited recommended this. Hardboiled, eh? I'm interested. Started reading. So plainly written. I'm not going to stick with this. Next thing I know I'm on chapter 4 and completely hooked.

Very shallow. Smoothly written, but too smooth. There's not much there. It's competent but somewhat soulless. Not sure I will read the 2nd book.
