When I was a teenager I was very attached to books by Phyllis A. Whitney. With its strong gothic romance bent, The Rarest Rose is extremely appealing to me and the teenage part of me is silently cheering that the two leads are female, something I wished could have been possible when I was reading Phyllis A. Whitney in the 1980s.
