I really don’t like how Kayla’s role seems to have been reduced in this book compared to the others. I mean she’s a frustrating heroine at times but she’s who I’ve been following since the first book so I kind of miss having her front and centre.

Being told about Malkor’s discussion with Kayla and the way Isonde’s arrival is just tossed in there really doesn’t have me hopeful for a strong series conclusion. Isonde’s perspective has been inadequate this book, and the motivations behind the whole stupid game that started this thing are getting lost in the mix here.

With only 30% of the book remaining I’m getting rather concerned about how everything in motion can be wrapped up adequately...

I’m really not sure how everything can be resolved satisfactorily at this point.

For all my complaints I’ll be sad when this series is over, it reminds me of the silly, fun kind of space opera I grew up on.

I know it makes me an arsehole but I seriously don't need Vayne's perspective on things. I'm good, thanks.

While other elements of this series can be a bit all over the place, I really do appreciate the way Kayla’s struggle to balance her personal and family commitments has been portrayed.

This is cheesy and ridiculous but I’m enjoying it got what it is. Kayla being torn between all her familial duties and having a life of her own feels a bit too real sometimes, even if we’re talking about a psychic space opera.

Lol yeah ok I really needed this recap I’d forgotten way more than I thought I did. I guess it’s been a couple of years since the second book so that’s to be expected.

I’ve been anticipating this one for a while. My physical copy hasn’t arrived yet so I double-dipped on a digital. It’s been so long since I’ve read a fun space opera romp so I’m hoping this final series entry has a compelling conclusion.
