Am I supposed to like Pi? And care whether he lives or dies? His actions make no sense and everything feels like an allegory, so it's hard for me to take him seriously.

So far I am confused and not absorbed. I have no affection for this guy and his life isn't so interesting that I want to jump around it randomly. Will there ever be a plot?
