Suspense is somthing the author uses to make kids want to keep reading. In this book, the author uses suspense by keeping the readers wondering if belly will chose Jerry or Conrad. He switches back and forth between characters hoping to keep you thinking what will happen next.

The point of view in this story is first person. I know this becuase one of the main characters is belly, and she is narrating the story. An example from the story that shows it is in first person is on page 124. Belly says, "When mom told me that Susanah was gone, I did not want to believe it."
