Wow, talk about a girl with no personality while having the personality of a child. That Myo, was that her name?; is basically: I want to be a totally obedient wife to him. Does she have any actual interests on her own?

This reads as if written to have this freak-out happen. After all, he is supposed to marry that Tanuki and have babies with her but until now his parents never told him anything related to it and now demand that he does exactly as they are told. They could at least have the Tanuki transform and date him for a while.
