Right, enough atrocities for today, let's switch to lesbian steampunk for the evening. (Of course, given the British Empire, there really isn't a guarantee of no atrocities here, either...)

The Hands That Feed by Matthew Kressel: 1 star. Boo, not a fan. Lots of things I didn't like about this one.

Truth and Light, Shira Lipkin: 3.5 stars. Short and sad, but lovely.

Steel Rider, Rachel Manija Brown: 4 stars. Another Western, this one a mecha more on the fantasy side.

Where the Ocean Meets the Sky, Sarah M. Harvey: 1.5 stars. Not much story here. I didn't know anything about Emperor Norton until reading this story, though, so I guess that's a plus.

Yeah, I don't know how I feel about becoming Confederate sympathizers, even if you are in disagreement with the Union.

Brilliant, by Georgina Bruce: 2 stars. Ehhhhh. I liked some of the ideas and underlying themes, but the romance was very underwhelming.

The Effluent Engine, N.K. Jemisin: 4 stars. Somehow I forgot/didn't know that the first story was by NKJ! (This is somewhat ironic, because one frustration I had with her earlier works was that there were many queer men and few queer women.) I'm pleased to have found this interesting story. I enjoyed it a lot, although I would have liked a stronger ending. Queer Haitian women in steampunk New Orleans is a good genre.

Welp, my phone is having battery issues, I forgot to bring a paperback, and my Kobo doesn't want to let me add any new books. Guess it's back to this anthology I first started *squints* five years ago? Maybe I can finally get it off my "currently reading"!
