Ugh, an initial flip-through hurts - this books' portrayal of PoC is so offensive - it was definitely a product of its time (1930). The foreward states: "In his portrayal of the Belgian Congo, the young Hergé reflects the colonial attitudes of the time. He himself admitted that he depicted his Africans according to the bourgeouis, paternalistic stereotypes of the period.[...]" *understatement*
