A good book for what it is: an attempt by Creative Writing PhD course organisers to persuade us that new knowledge can be found from the practice of Creative Writing.

Wanted to finish this today but was not capable. One chapter to go. This is a punishing book. I tell myself that it's one of those books written by academics for academics and so, as a lay person, I'm not meant to be able to understand it. Also, it's aimed at people who are studying at PhD level (and are generating new knowledge) and so it's a bit above my Masters level brain. Either that, or I'm not smart enough.

Essay by Jeri Kroll has to be singled out as the most meaningless piece of drivel I've read in a long time. And I've read my fair share of drivel.

Loving to speed read this one. It's on the too edge of my ability to understand the concepts, but I find that if I agonise over each word, sentence and paragraph it goes in too slowly for me to bear. Groundbreaking and fascinating concepts being rolled out before my very eyes.
