I think this book was a real quantum leap in quality for this series. The start is a really easy read, but logical and with rich world-building. It doesn't feel like it has the writing quirks of Verkreath Horror. I've just got to the point where they meet Elden Roth. It's a great scene, he's a great character! I really enjoyed the exchange between him and Sharrock at the stables. I can see why so many people loved BQ

I always like the final battle of the blood trial. Every time I read it, it gets better. I may be biased because I wrote it but it’s one of my favourite fight sequences ever!

Some great scenes leading up to this bit. The feast, the trial, Quin Farrel and the revelations about Lady Death. I really think this book is a major step up from Verkreath Horror and I can understand why so many people love it. I'm not sure I understand why some theistic readers were turned off by this book. Yes, there's corruption in the Isharian Church, but actually the Empress does NOT believe Brael Truthseeker!

Really enjoying this so far. It's got less writing quirks than Verkreath. It's an easy read, but with rich world-building and great character interactions. Just got to the point where they meet Elden Roth. He's a great character and that scene, plus the exchange between Roth and Sharrock at the stables are really great! I can see why so many people particularly loved this book. It's reads well, but isn't too dark.

Finished the final battle! I loved writing the last blood trial and it's still one of my favourite scenes in the book. Everything comes together really well in this story. Just got to read the epilogue then onto book 4!

Yay! Nearly through this again. The rescue attempt was good. Now I'm looking forward to the epic grand finale! The final Blood Trial!
