Very well written and detailed account of Alexander's life...but hey, where's his bisexuality? Where is his love for Hephaistion? His affair with Bagoas? I understand that this author was trying to stay away from personal matters but part of the reason Alexander was so open to otherness and new concepts was his queerness. That is a proven fact. By erasing that, you gut history of a huge chunk of truth. You rob.

Although I have read many many books on Alexander, fiction and non-fiction, and am pretty well learned on the facts and chronology, this book is such a pleasant surprise full of interesting knowledge and beautiful descriptions of Babylon, Persian mythology and many references to Greek theatre, Homer and Herodotus. This author/historian is amazing.
