On page 96, these are the facts we learned about Leonardo: he was born to Piero and Caterina, out of wedlock, in Vinci in 1452. Somewhere in his youth, he went to Florence where he was an apprentice to Andrea del Verrocchio.
That's it. The rest is embroidery. Nice embroidery, but still, I like facts better.
