I am finding the so called military academy seems senselessly violent and cruel yet a couple of the characters have remarked on that fact as well so I am wondering if there is something else going on. Intriguing.

The story is a bit like Ander's Game mixed with Red Rising and on occasion it feels like the author has swallowed a thesaurus but I am enjoying it so far.
