This book is such a let down so far. I think it would have served its purpose better as one of the author's Washington Post articles rather than an entire book. I'm halfway through and there is no mention of barriers to literacy and reading. Her studies are dubiously cited and she doesn't provide much analysis. I have no idea where my copy of this book is right now, so it might just end up on my Did-Not-Finish shelf.
