Misty added a status update
When an author tries to disguise her identity and slams a reader for posting a negative review, it might be time for that author to find a new career. Just sayin’.

Devin The Book Dragon I hear so many things about authors acting like children because they cannot handle criticism! Some people should not get their books published!

Brittain *Needs a Nap and a Drink* Oh boy. Here we go again. Why do authors keep doing this?

I couldn’t agree more!

It’s infuriating! I try to be brutally honest with my reviews, and while I would understand an author being bothered, I can’t understand an ego that would lead to lashing out.

Joe I loved your retort, Misty. I rarely get angry comments on my social media and believe that with a male avatar, women wouldn't either. People who pick fights with those they think won't hit back disgust me. You handled that situation well.

I've had it happen before too. People who are extremely insecure about themselves or their lives are the ones that do that.

Thx so much Joe. A male avatar is an interesting thought. Isn’t it a shame that such gender bias, though, makes that necessary?

Meredith B. (readingwithmere) That's so sad that this happens! I loved your response - very mature compared to the poster's comment. Aren't reviews supposed to be our honest opinions? Both good AND bad? Not every book is for everyone and can't have 5 stars every single time!

Thanks, Meredith! I just don’t understand an author who is so insecure!

When Jo Rowling encounters a stigma to publishing with her given name, that needs to be a wake-up call.

Abigail Oh boy! That just shows what kind of character this author has. *shakes head*

Never a truer word! Thanks for the comment!

Alex Honestly, if you can‘t handle criticism, you shouldn‘t take a job where people will obviously judge your work.

message 21: by Rachel (new)

Rachel So, I'm a Goodreads author, and if you get a negative review, a little thing pops up that cautions you not to reply to it because you'll appear unprofessional and stuff like that. (I can't seem to find it now to quote the exact wording, sorry. Maybe it only pops up when you first get a low-star review.)

Which means this author not only ignored that advice, they tried to be all sneaky about ignoring it. Which is just... in such bad taste. Ouch.
