Ok most importantly tho i just wanna say fuck the appearance of the young innocent sheltered & not so subtly sexualised archetype, u know the one who needs a clever older man to teach her about the world & what dudes think ought to be her helpless place in it; a real turnoff when this book was thumpin' along so nicely too

Also enjoying that the protagonist gets less & less likeable w/ each page lol

Dang, this book is more than i expected. I managed to pause and live my life between the first few chapters, but all of a sudden our Hans (who, a stereotypical philosopher figure warns, is just an average dude with an ego -- but that's ok, how else is the reader gonna connect with a book about a dystopian future that is spot on in some ways (enormous wars, constant epidemics... wow is this rly the character limit on
