I don't care anymore. I don't care about their "budding relationship." I don't care about the stupid wendigos they hinted at. I'm done. That's it. I'm rage-quitting and going off to reread Concubine for the umpteenth time. I can't do it anymore. I tried. I really did. I skimmed through a good 5 pages before I realized this wasn't going to work. I'm sorry, but I just can't do it.

This Todd guys needs to stop pretending that they can have a non dysfunctional relationship under such circumstances. (I'm not saying they can't reach some sort of equilibrium. I'm just saying that I don't feel like Nick, given his circumstances, can make genuine informed decisions on consent.)

This bothered me before and it's bothering me now. Todd: "I care about you a lot, but if you want to have the benefit of my physical presence for comfort, you're going to have to wear this collar all the time. Only then will I even sleep vaguely near you, even though I know you suffer from nightmares." That, you guys, is true love...right? Right??? :-\

This sounds nice and all in a pseudo-steampunk sort of way, but...the author IS aware that to get steam, one would have to heat up water somehow, right? Okay, so maybe not oil/gasoline, but one would at least need coal, right? Yes. (I guess you could use wood? But I thought it meant it was more of a pollution issue. Using steam still wouldn't solve it...)
